Jackson Township is located within Will County, Illinois. The boundaries surround over 37 square miles that are divided into 36 sections. The borders roughly follow (beginning in the northwest corner of the township) N Townline Road / W Schweitzer Road, east, to Cherry Hill Road, south, to Southtownline Road / Townline Road, west, to International Port Road / Baseline Road, north. The municipalities of The Village of Elwood, unincorporated Elwood, and a small portion of Joliet are encompassed by Jackson Township.
Adjacent townships are: Troy, Joliet, New Lenox, Manhattan, Wilton, Florence, Wilmington, and Channahon. Bordering communities include Joliet, Manhattan, Wilmington, and Channahon.
Major places of interest in Jackson Township are Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, Autobahn Country Club, Route 66 Raceway, and The Children’s Garden.
The 2020 US Census reported the population to be 3,898.
